Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor children that would be raised together eventually, learned very early how to get out of the difficulties she faced through her vibrant and vivid imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could write or read. Her first guitar was given to her when she turned eight. She began singing in the Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. The first album she recorded was in the same calendar year Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. The singer established a name for herself locally while still in high school, however she dreamed of a bigger stage. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner needed a new singer at around the time. Parton accepted the job in 1967 signed to RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. But she resigned from the show in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and made it to Number. 1. for the first time in 1974.
